Transforming the Future: My Takeaways from The Industry Transformers: Cloud Computing and Gen-AI

On September 6, 2025, I joined an online webinar called “The Industry Transformers: Cloud Computing and Gen-AI”, organized by the Lyceum of Subic Bay – College of Computer Studies (CCS) through the CtrlA group.

The session was held over Google Meet, and the speaker, Mr. Matthew Wahoviak, shared his knowledge and real-world experiences with these two game-changing technologies.

A Bigger Picture of the Cloud

Before the talk, I thought cloud computing was just about online storage. Mr. Wahoviak completely changed that view. He explained how the cloud gives businesses the power to run applications, store massive amounts of data, and scale up or down whenever needed, without investing in expensive hardware.

It’s the backbone of services like Netflix and Google Docs that serve millions of users at once. Hearing this made me realize that cloud infrastructure is what keeps so many of our favorite apps running smoothly.

Generative AI: More Than Just Chatbots

When people say “Gen-AI,” most of us think of chatbots or image generators. But during the webinar, I learned it’s far more powerful.Companies use it to write product descriptions, create marketing campaigns, assist in coding, and even analyze huge datasets for trends and predictions. This opens doors for faster development and more creative solutions something I’m excited to explore in my own projects.

The Perfect Pair: Cloud + AI

The part that impressed me most was how these two technologies support each other. Generative AI needs massive computing power and storage, and cloud platforms make that possible. Without the cloud, running advanced AI models would be too costly for most companies. It’s like the cloud provides the stage and Gen-AI is the star performer.

Responsibility Comes First

Mr. Wahoviak also reminded us about data privacy and ethical AI use. Innovation is exciting, but it comes with the duty to protect sensitive information and avoid biased or harmful outcomes. As a future IT professional, that message hit home. It’s not just about building cool tech; it’s about building it responsibly.

My Next Steps

This webinar motivated me to dig deeper into cloud services like AWS and Google Cloud and maybe aim for certifications that will help in my career.

I also plan to experiment with Gen-AI for future school projects like creating intelligent chatbots or automating content generation for websites.

Final Thoughts

The event was well-organized, easy to follow, and packed with insights that any IT student or tech enthusiast would appreciate.

I’m grateful to the CtrlA team for arranging it and to Mr. Wahoviak for sharing his expertise. It’s definitely one of those webinars that leaves you inspired to keep learning and innovating.
